Custom Leather Patches

Laser-cut genuine leather, permanently engraved with your logo. Premium, tactile, and timeless. Our most requested specialty item — and for good reason.

What Are Custom Leather Patches?

Custom leather patches are laser-cut to your shape and laser-engraved with your logo, text, or artwork. They are applied to hats, jackets, bags, and apparel using heat-activated adhesive backing or hand-sewn attachment. The result is a premium, tactile branding element that embroidery and digital print simply cannot replicate — genuine leather with a permanently engraved design that develops character over time.

Our most common application is hat patches, where a 2" x 3.5" leather panel replaces the standard embroidered front logo. The effect is immediately noticeable — leather patches have a weight and texture that demands attention. They're popular with craft breweries, outdoor brands, construction companies, and anyone who wants their branded gear to stand apart from the crowd.

We use genuine vegetable-tanned and chrome-tanned leather in natural tan, dark brown, and black colorways. The laser engraving process burns your design permanently into the surface of the leather — it can't be washed off, scratched off, or worn away under normal use. Over time, the engraved areas develop a rich patina that makes the patch look better the more it's worn.

What We Offer

Why Leather Patches Are Trending

Custom leather patch hats have been one of the fastest-growing categories in the custom apparel space over the last several years. The reason is simple: in a world where everyone is wearing embroidered hats, leather patches stand out. They signal craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a premium standard that embroidery alone doesn't communicate.

The trend started with craft breweries, outdoor brands, and premium agricultural businesses — industries where a rugged, premium aesthetic is on-brand. It's spread rapidly into real estate, construction, restaurants, barbershops, and virtually every other small business vertical. If your brand has any connection to quality, heritage, or craftsmanship, a leather patch hat will carry that message better than most other branded items.

Eagle Ridge Apparel has been producing custom leather patches since our early days. We understand the material, the laser parameters for different leather types, and the application techniques that produce a clean, lasting result. When you order a leather patch hat from us, you're getting a product that looks great out of the box and gets better over time.

Who Orders Leather Patches

Popular Applications

Craft Breweries

Tap room merchandise, staff hats, and branded gear. Leather patches project the craft and authenticity aesthetic perfectly. One of the most common industries we serve.

Outdoor & Ag Brands

Farm brands, ranch apparel, hunting and outdoor companies. Leather patches are the natural choice for businesses rooted in craft, land, and heritage.

Construction & Trades

Leather patch work hats, company beanies, and branded gear that holds up. The premium look communicates quality of workmanship to clients on every job site.

Real Estate & Finance

Branded closing gifts, agent hats, and team gear. A leather patch hat is a gift that recipients actually wear — far better brand exposure than a pen or keychain.

Restaurants & Barbershops

Staff hats and merchandise that reflect a premium shop experience. Leather patches communicate quality and attention to detail that aligns with high-end service brands.

Corporate & Events

Executive gifts, conference swag, and team appreciation items. Leather patch hats are the upgrade over standard embroidered hats — the kind of gift people keep for years.

FAQ

Leather Patch Questions

What size are leather hat patches?
The most common hat patch size is approximately 2" tall x 3.5" wide — this fits standard 5-panel and 6-panel structured caps. We can also cut custom sizes. Smaller patches (1.5" x 2.5") work well for the side of a hat or smaller logos. We'll recommend the best size for your specific hat style and logo proportions.
Can leather patches be removed or replaced?
Heat-pressed patches can be carefully removed with a heat gun, though this may affect the underlying fabric. Sewn patches can be removed by cutting the stitching. In most cases, patches are intended to be permanent — the whole point is a lasting branded item. We recommend confirming your design before applying patches to expensive blanks.
Do you make patches for items we already own?
Yes. You can ship us blanks (hats, jackets, bags) or drop them off at our Meridian shop and we'll apply the patches. We work with customer-supplied items regularly. Just let us know in advance so we can review the material and confirm compatibility with our application method.
Are the patches made from real leather?
Yes. We use genuine vegetable-tanned and chrome-tanned leather — not PU leather or faux leather alternatives. The leather is cut and engraved in-house. Natural tan leather will develop a patina over time with wear, which most customers love. Dark brown and black leather options are also available for brands that prefer a different aesthetic.
What logo types work best on leather patches?
Clean, bold logos with strong contrast engrave beautifully. Single-color logos, wordmarks, and designs with clear lines produce the sharpest results. Highly detailed designs with very fine lines may lose some detail depending on patch size — we'll advise if this is a concern. For complex multi-color logos, our full-color UV-printed leather patch option is a better fit than standard laser engraving.
Can I order just patches without hats?
Absolutely. We offer patch-only orders for customers who want to apply them to their own items using a heat press or sewing. Patches come with heat-activated adhesive backing ready for press application. This is popular with decorators, boutiques, and businesses with their own garment inventory.
