Kindergarten graduation is the first real school milestone, and the shirts become keepsakes parents save for years. Some of our customers still have their kid's kindergarten graduation tee from 2014 in a memory box. Here are the design ideas that work, the pricing you'll actually see, and the production timeline that won't blow up your graduation day.
Design idea #1 — Class roster on the back
Print every kindergartener's name on the back of the shirt, varsity-team-jersey style. Each kid sees their name when they put the shirt on, parents melt, the design ages well as a keepsake.
Cost: $14–$18 per shirt at 25+ pieces with DTF printing (DTF handles individual customization without setup fees per name). We import your roster from a spreadsheet and lay out names automatically — no manual typing of 24 kindergartener names.
Design idea #2 — The autograph block
Leave a blank space on the back labeled 'Class of [year] — Sign Below.' Teachers, classmates, and parents fill in signatures with a fabric marker on graduation day.
Important: use cotton blends, not 100% polyester. Sharpie ink soaks into cotton; it beads up on poly. Gildan G500 5.3 oz cotton is the right blank here.
Cost: $12–$16 per shirt at 25+ pieces. Simpler design = lower per-piece cost.
Design idea #3 — Mascot + Year
School mascot front-chest with 'Class of [year] Kindergarten' below. Clean, ages well, doesn't shout. Parents who want a tasteful keepsake love this.
Cost: $12–$15 per shirt at 25+ pieces. Single-color or 2-color print, screen print or DTF.
Design idea #4 — Photo print
DTF prints handle full-color photo art. You can put a class photo on the front of the shirt, or a montage of mini class portraits, or a stylized illustration of the school building.
Cost: $16–$22 per shirt at 25+ pieces. DTF setup is what makes this affordable at low quantities — screen print would charge per color, DTF doesn't.
Design idea #5 — Family set
Same design on the kindergarten size + matching adult sizes for parents and siblings. Family photo opportunity at graduation. Parents will pay $50+ for the full set.
Cost: bundle 4 shirts (kid + 2 parents + 1 sibling) at $52–$72 per family set. Per-piece pricing stays the same — you're just multiplying.
Design idea #6 — Multi-color class tees
If your school has multiple kindergarten classes (Mrs. X's class, Mr. Y's class), each class gets its own color but the same design.
Cost: same per-piece as single-color, since the print design is shared.
The production timeline that won't blow up
Graduation dates are fixed. Don't gamble. Order 4 weeks before the graduation ceremony for safety. Standard production 10–14 business days plus 3–7 days for mockup approval. Rush production 5–7 business days available but you'll pay 20–35% more and have less mockup-revision flexibility.
The PTA volunteers who order in mid-April for a late-May graduation are relaxed. The ones who order 10 days out are not.
