Retreat shirts (40–80 pieces)
Annual youth retreat shirts at 40–80 pieces run $11–$16 per shirt with screen print or DTF. Screen print starts to win at 50+ pieces — per-piece cost drops aggressively.
Total cost for 60 retreat tees: $660–$960. Most churches build retreat costs into the registration fee — $5–$8 of the retreat cost per attendee covers the shirt.
Camp shirts (150–400 pieces)
Summer camp shirt orders at 150–400 pieces hit the bulk-pricing sweet spot — $8–$14 per shirt. At 300+ pieces, expect $7–$12 per piece. The economics make camp shirts one of the most cost-effective youth group apparel orders.
Total cost for 250 camp tees: $2,000–$3,000. Camp registration fees easily absorb this — adding $10 per camper to the registration fee covers the shirt with margin.
Mission trip shirts (8–24 pieces)
Mission trips usually have small teams (8–24 people). Mission trip tees run $11–$18 per piece with DTF. Often premium designs with full-color art (trip location, year, team motto), which DTF handles cleanly.
Total cost for 14 mission trip tees: $154–$252. Mission trip teams often handle the cost as part of pre-trip fundraising.
Decoration method by volume
- 1–24 pieces: DTF wins. No setup fee per design, full-color art capable.
- 25–49 pieces: DTF or screen print depending on color count. 1-color screen print might win; 4-color DTF wins.
- 50+ pieces: Screen print's per-piece economics get aggressive. Setup cost absorbs into the larger run.
- 200+ pieces: Screen print is the clear choice. Per-piece cost drops to $7–$10 in this range.
Mixed-size orders are standard for church groups
Church youth groups include 6th-graders and 12th-graders in the same group. Camp orders include staff and attendees. Family camps include toddlers and grandparents. We handle the full range — toddler 2T through adult 3XL on the same order, no setup charges for the size mix.
Timing for summer events
Summer event apparel is the church group production peak. VBS in June, camps in July, retreats in August. Order 6 weeks before the event for safety.
