For DTG, the ideal file is a PNG at 300 DPI with a transparent background. AI, EPS, and high-resolution PSD files also work well. Low-resolution JPGs (think: pulled from a website or a Facebook page) can be re-created, but that takes time and may cost a small art fee depending on complexity.
