If you've ever attended a high school swim meet at 6 AM in February, you understand why swim parkas are non-negotiable. Pool decks are cold and damp. Swimmers warm up, swim a 50-meter event in 30 seconds, then stand around for 2 hours waiting for their next race. The parka is what they live in between races. Here's the swim parka guide for Treasure Valley high school and club programs.
Why parkas specifically (not just hoodies)
Hoodies absorb pool water. Parkas don't. Standard swim parkas have:
- Water-resistant outer shell that beads pool splash and doesn't absorb chlorine
- Heavy fleece interior for insulation between races
- Long cut to cover the swimmer's waist when seated on the bleachers
- Hood for cold deck mornings
Comparing 100% cotton hoodie vs. a real swim parka after a 4-hour meet: the hoodie is wet, heavy, and useless. The parka is dry, warm, and ready for the next race.
Per-piece cost at team quantities
For high school programs ordering 15+ parkas:
- Entry-level parkas: $55–$75 per piece. Adequate for high school dual meets.
- Mid-tier parkas: $75–$95. The most-common high school program order.
- Premium parkas: $95–$140. Club teams competing at state and national levels.
Embroidery on the chest (school crest) adds $8–$15 per piece. Embroidery on the back (swimmer last name) adds $8–$12.
Embroidery, not print
Print on swim parkas peels after wash cycles. The fleece interior and water-resistant shell don't play well with screen-print plastisol or even DTF. Embroidery is the right call: school crest on the chest, swimmer name on the back. Holds up to chlorinated wash cycles indefinitely.
Other essential swim team apparel
Beyond parkas, swim teams need:
- Warm-up jackets + pants — for pre-race team warm-ups. $35–$65 jacket, $25–$45 pants.
- Travel hoodies — for meet-day transport. $25–$45.
- Practice tees + shorts — daily on-deck rotation. $9–$16 each.
- Team backpacks — embroidered for chlorinated gear transport. $35–$55.
- Coach polos + jackets — embroidered for sideline staff. $30–$50.
When to order parkas
Lead time on embroidered parkas is 14–18 business days due to thread-count requirements. Order 6+ weeks before the season's first meet. For Idaho high school programs, that means ordering by mid-October so parkas arrive before December meets.
Mid-season add-ons
If a new swimmer joins mid-season, we can produce a single replacement parka in 14–18 business days matching your existing school colors. We save your team file so there's no setup fee on the reorder.

How We Make This Stuff
Everything covered in this post is produced in our Meridian, Idaho shop at 2700 E Lanark St. Eagle Ridge Apparel is a family-run print shop serving the Treasure Valley since 2019 — we embroider, screen print, DTF, sublimate, laser-cut leather patches, laser-engrave drinkware, and UV-print promotional goods on equipment we operate ourselves. No outsourced decoration, no overseas fulfillment, no third-party middlemen.
Most custom apparel orders ship in 7–10 business days from approved mockup. Rush production in 3–5 business days is available on most decoration methods; embroidered hats are the tightest constraint. We hold no minimums on any decoration type — order one piece or one thousand — though pricing scales aggressively over 50, 100, and 250-piece tiers. Free digital mockups before production starts. We don't begin a run until you sign off on what it'll look like.
Two ways to order: design it yourself online in our designer tool (any quantity, any decoration method), or request a custom quote and we'll send back pricing within one business day. Talk to a real person at (208) 954-9492 or info@eagleridgeapparel.com — most inquiries get a response within two hours during the business day.
